    Does adjusting the travel also change the axle-to-crown measurement and is that data available?

    • @CaneCreekCycling
      @CaneCreekCycling 21 день назад

      Hi. The answer is yes. Any time you change the travel in the fork, let's say by 10mm, the axle to crown measurement will change (+ or -) that amount as well. This data is on the Helm Spec sheet as well.

    I typically don't leave comments under RUclips videos, however this case is an exception. After a couple of hours setting up the brakes I gave up and gave the job to mechanics from the local bike shop. I am a software engineer and I was building bikes previously, so I know some bits and pieces and have experience. However, this product is the next level of confusion. First of all, installing brake pads is not straightforward at all. The pad just simply didn't get inside the shoe - the tension and friction is too high. I had to combine soapy water to reduce the friction and pliers with cloth to get the final alignment. Yes, I was using SRAM pads. My fingers were already blue, however I didn't have up and continued. 0:50 What is the centering adjuster and what is the neutral position? What is a non-neutral position? What are other positions available? I re-watched those 5 second million times and it was still not clear. I also asked chatgpt and the answer was also confusing, so I gave up and proceeded to the next step. Mounting the brakes into the bike is very difficult because the hex key gets inside for a couple of millimeters, meaning there is a high risk of rounding the bolt, very difficult to screw for very last rotations. The default bolt from SRAM brakes is definitely better designed. 01:35 what is the natural seat? Again, I would avoid using general terminology in technical videos as this tutorial should be very specific. In regards to the front brake I think there should be a model that is designed for the UK brakes position, when the front brake is located on the right, so the cable goes from the opposite way to the EU standard. For the UK case the cable would have an extra bend (like S shape), which would negatively impact the breaking performance. I think it's not possible to change the position of the braking cable hole. Once I installed the brake and tightened the cable bolt brakes were still not operating properly as the were very spongy. I used the correct spacers for 23mm rim width and played with twisting some bolts, no luck. There is no troubleshooting guide provided. People say that rim brakes are easy to work on. I want them to install these brakes on the bike and hear their opinion.

      The Lauf Grit is a smooth riding fork! It’s certainly lightweight, simple, and smooth and we enjoyed riding it during our research and development phase. A lot of the appeal of Invert is going to be its aesthetic. To riders that want a sleek fork that integrates cleanly into a simple or “traditional” drop bar silhouette it represents something totally new - that hasn’t been offered yet by anything else on the market.

    I'm looking at the ST version for my touring bike. My frame is an older model, with the top tube horizontal (parallel to the ground). As a result, my seat post clamp sits fairly high relative to other bikes. My current seat post is inserted pretty deep into the seat tube. I'm not sure that I have room for the ST version. The clearance between the top tube and the seat itself is relatively small compared to other bikes. Does anyone know the distance that the rails of the saddle would be from the seat post clamp if I inserted the ST version all the way down?

    I thought the high sensitivity of a coil damper comes precisely because there is NO air chamber with strong seals installed? The Tigon's extra air chamber must also cause as much friction as normal air shocks, right? How is the sensitivity supposed to be comparable to a normal coil damper? And if the Tigon has less friction than previous air shocks, could the Tigon have simply been made into a new air shock? Maybe my fears are unfounded, but I'm asking myself these questions right now.

    • @pauld1848
      @pauld1848 10 месяцев назад

      The air chamber is for only for tuning ramp up at the end of the stroke. I would think that it is not engaged at the beginning of travel.

    • @CaneCreekCycling
      @CaneCreekCycling 10 месяцев назад

      You make a good point about stiction from seals involved in any sort of air spring component. Usually air springs have two main sets of air tight seals. One to maintain pressure in the positive chamber, and one for the negative. In Tigon's RAMP Tube there is no negative air spring. Instead, we have a small, physical coil spring that acts as the negative spring on the shock. Mainly thanks to the use of this physical negative spring, along with the lack of one of the airtight seals, and the relatively low pressure, mean that Tigon actually has an incredibly low initiation force. As low, if not lower than our other coil shocks. We felt that the benefits of adding the RAMP Tube air component (tunable spring curve + significant increase in lateral strength) were compelling enough reasons for its design.

    Where does the air-progression start in the stroke? Last 10,20,30%

    • @acidt7083
      @acidt7083 10 месяцев назад

      Technically it starts as soon as the shock is compressed, but I doubt it would have enough pressure to have an effect on the first 10-20% of the stroke.

    • @CaneCreekCycling
      @CaneCreekCycling 10 месяцев назад

      @acidt7083 is correct. Technically, the air pressure in RAMP Tube starts to take effect immediately, (although very subtle at first) but the amount to which it is really noticeable depends on how much pressure you are running. It's highly tunable in this way. You can run Tigon as a dead-linear coil shock with 0 psi, or you can max it out at 30psi and have a super supportive, progressive setup. At 20-30psi RAMP Tube support is definitely active at sag. If running these pressures in RAMP Tube, we recommend rechecking sag and adjusting coil preload accordingly. The neat feature of RAMP Tube, and what really sets it apart is that it represents an active way to tune the spring rate and support of your coil shock starting all the way at the sag point. We would say that it really starts to take effect on the support experienced by the rider at about half way through the shock's stroke. Making the shock more progressive does help mitigate bottom outs, yes, but RAMP Tube does not ONLY exist as a bottom out feature present in the final part of stroke. This is what makes it distinctly different from shocks with hydraulic bottom out control.
